Scandia partnered with a highly valued trade customer to provide Writtle College, one of the UK's largest land-based universities, with an expanded and upgraded freezer storage solution to accommodate their growing educational courses.

A modern, high-capacity walk-in freezer specifically designed for storing frozen produce for university research and dissection, featuring meat hanging rails and heavy-duty reinforced flooring.

Dimensions: Freezer 4500mm x 2600mm x 2400mm
Insulation: 100mm PIR panels throughout.
Doors: 1200mm x 2100mm clear opening (c/o) hinged door featuring a strip curtain, lockable handle, Fermod door furniture, and a low voltage frame heater.
Flooring: 18mm plywood-reinforced anti-slip aluminium insulated floor.
Shelving: 1800mm high, 4-tier, static free-standing wire, grey powder-coated shelving.
Fittings: 6 aluminium meat hanging rails fitted to the surrounding walls.
Client Requirement
Writtle College is one of the UK’s largest land-based universities. In their courses, they use various frozen produce for dissecting and research. Having previously had a Scandia freezer installed three years prior, and experiencing continued interest and growth in their courses, they required an additional freezer store of an upgraded modern specification and a larger size to accommodate this growing demand for years to come.
Our Solution
Throughout site visits and phone calls with our highly valued trade customer, we came to a final plan which involved dismantling and reconstructing their current freezer, carrying out various room upgrades throughout this process, whilst also installing the new, larger, modern freezer.
