  • Refrigeration: Internal evaporator paired with a housed, weatherproof condensing unit at roof level, connected via a nearby riser.
  • Finishing: Infill panels to the exposed faces up to 2750mm high; LED lighting.

Client Requirement

Slim Chickens needed their existing walk-in chiller at Grand Central replaced and relocated to a revised kitchen position, with the old coldroom and refrigeration equipment removed as part of the same scope.

Our Solution

Scandia’s scope brought these elements together, including dismantling and off-site disposal of the existing equipment before installing the new chiller package. The new room’s floor combined PIR insulation, plywood reinforcement and an aluminium treadplate overlay, providing an insulated base with a reinforced wearing surface. Infill panels to the exposed faces helped finish the room within the surrounding fit-out. This project demonstrates Scandia’s ability to coordinate the room and refrigeration replacement as one scope, from removing the existing equipment to fitting the new chiller and finishing panels, giving catering contractors and restaurant operators a clear example of the practical work involved in renewing a walk-in coldroom.
