Type of Cold Room: Coldroom Floor Replacement

A worn coldroom floor can become a significant maintenance issue for a restaurant. Scandia replaced the worn insulated floor with a new reinforced build-up, renewing the working surface within the existing coldroom.

Specifications

  • Project Type: Removal and replacement of an insulated coldroom floor.
  • Room: Internal footprint 3440mm × 1240mm; surrounding coldroom retained.
  • Floor Build-up: 80mm PIR insulation, plywood reinforcement and 2mm aluminium treadplate overlay.
  • Trims: New white food-safe trims at the junction between floor and walls.
  • Programme: Old floor removed and disposed of, replacement fitted within an allocated kitchen closure window.

Client Requirement

The existing insulated floor required removal and replacement. The narrow room called for a replacement floor made to suit the available space, and the operator needed the work done with minimal downtime.

Our Solution

The operator decided to shut the kitchen for an allotted period, vacate the space, and have us in and out within an allocated window so their operations were kept to plan. Each layer of the new floor serves a practical purpose: the PIR provides the insulation, the plywood reinforces the assembly, and the aluminium treadplate forms the exposed wearing surface, with new perimeter trim providing a neat finish. This project demonstrates Scandia’s support for existing coldrooms as well as new installations, bringing floor insulation, reinforcement and surface finish together as one repair package.
